Counseling sessions serve primarily 3 purposes –
1. Psychotherapy i.e. therapeutic intervention for the issue faced
2. Rehabilitation and maintenance once issue is in control
3. PsychoEducation – i.e. creating awareness about the issue for client as well as family.
Frequency and number of sessions depend upon the nature and severity of the issue.
Type of counseling sessions conducted at IPH are –
• One to One counseling sessions – Therapist / Counselor and client in one to one setting
• Family Counseling sessions – Counselor addresses queries from the family of the client and recommendations for home / work settings as part of therapy.
• Couple counselling sessions – For Marital issues, counselor may conduct some sessions with both the partners together.
• Group therapy sessions – A counselor conducts group therapy session; the group can comprise of typically 8-12 people facing similar issues or could be of caregivers. Group coordinator will enable Psychoeducation, sharing, insightful discussions amongst the group members.
